Responding to a plea filed by Zee against WION's former Managing Editor Palki Sharma, the Delhi High Court has declined to pass a restraining order against Sharma.
Zee had contended before the Delhi High Court that Sharma cannot join TV18 in her new role as it would mean a violation of the notice period and non compete requirements as per her employment agreement with Zee.
Further, Zee also argued that, as the Managing Editor of WION, Ms Upadhyay was privy to confidential and proprietary information pertaining to the implementation of a new Project for the channel and from the news reports it is the reasonable apprehension of Zee Media that Ms Upadhyay seeks to implement the said new Project in Network18.
The court found no merit in restraining the journalist from joining CNN. However, the parties were in agreement that no confidential information from Zee Media would be divulged from Palki's end to any third party.
Zee Media was represented by Trust Legal through Partner, Ms Ritwika Nanda and Associate Partner, Ms Akshita Salampuria and led by Mr Joy Basu, Senior Advocate i
Sharma was represented by counsel, Saif Mahmood and Anil Sapra.
