One one hand where the nation is treading with caution owing to the subtle splurge in Covid Cases courtesy the new dreaded omicron variant, the Madras High Court has come out with a notification setting its intention to resume physical hearings again.
According to a notification released by the authorities in this regard, physical hearings are set to resume in Madras HC from January 3, 2021.
'...with regard to hearing of the cases in the Madras High Court (both at Principal Seat and at Madurai Bench), as ordered, it is notified that all virtual hearings on video conferencing platform shall stand suspended with effect from Monday, January 3, 2022, until further orders,'' it said.
''It is made clear that hearing of cases will be only through physical mode in the Madras High Court (both at Principal Seat and at Madurai Bench),'' with effect from Monday, it added.
The Madras High Court's bold move comes at a time when state governments have slowly started pushing a slew of notifications to bring Covid protocols back into effect as cautionary step. Only time will tell, if physical hearings would hold their fort sans the omicron hindrance.
