Well, a WhatsApp message is doing the rounds claiming that government has decided to expand the branches of Supreme Court of India to the above mentioned three locations.

A forwarded message is being shared on WhatsApp claiming that the government has decided to expand the branches of the Supreme Court of India to three more locations.

However the Government's Twitter handle @PIBFactCheck has debunked the fake news.

"This claim is fake", the tweet clarified. It categorically stated that ''no such decision has been taken by the government.

Yes, the Government has deliberated on the prospect of having a branch of Supreme Court outside Delhi in the past but the idea has so far been a dead rubber since the Supreme Court has never been in favour of setting up cassation benches at other places.
