Delhi HC Directs Emami To Deposit 10 Lakhs In Suit For Infringement By Saregama India

The Delhi High Court recently directed Emami Limited to deposit 10 Lakhs in a copyright infringement suit filed by Saregama India Limited.

Saregama India Limited filed a copyright infringement suit before the Delhi High Court against Emami Limited, to restrain it from using the musical and literary works of the song ‘Ude Jab Jab Zulfein’ for the advertisement of its product Emami Kesh King Shampoo.

Saregama claimed that Emami has used the song without any license, even though Emami approached Saregama for grant of license.

After hearing the parties, the Court as an interim measure has directed Emami to deposit INR 10 Lakhs.
