Justice Datta's remarks came in response to certain out of context reporting in an ongoing hearing pertaining to mismanagement of the COVID situation in the state of Maharashtra. Justice Datta clarified that the comment in question was made to admonish the petitioner in the case and not to admonish a class.

Sometimes we make comments out of anguish and despair. But to make headlines out of it to increase TRPs is not right," he said.
