Mr Seaman gave up rights to hundreds of Lennon's family photos in 2002
According to Yoko Ono, Mr Seaman is violating a major court order from 2002. Forty years after he was shot dead, Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono is suing his former personal assistant once again. In 2002, Ms Ono and Mr Seaman had settled a long battle in court, which led to Frederic Seaman surrendering and giving up the copyright of hundreds of John Lennon’s family photos.
Mr Seaman's troublesome interview on John Lennon breaches confidentiality agreement
According to Ms Ono's lawyer, Frederic Seaman discussed the disturbing details of John Lennon's murder in a recent 23-minute long interview. The fact that he was surrounded by Lennon's memorabilia caught everyone's attention.
It is important to point out here that the 2002 court order required Mr Seaman to comply with a confidentiality agreement signed in 1979. However, Mr Seaman's latest interview violates both the court order and the confidentiality agreement.
Yoko Ono seeks damages up to $150,000 along with restraining Seaman to stop profiting from Lenon's legacy
Ono’s lawyer, Dorothy Webber released a statement about the issue. Her statement mentioned that Ms Yoko thought that Mr Seaman would not go against the court order but it turned out to be a complete lie and “yet another scheme”.
This is why Yoko Ono has sued Frederic Seaman for copyright infringement. She seeks up to $150,000 in damages. Apart from this, she is also asking Seaman to stop profiting from her late husband’s work and legacy.
