Insight UK, a London based news website, has recently written to the BBC, OfCom and the House of Lords, countering the various issues raised in an article written by Yogita Limaye on BBC.
The subject line of the representation issued by Insight UK read as: "Rebuttal of inflammatory BBC article and serious concerns that it could increase risk of public disorder amongst British communities."
The written communication by Insight UK says that the BBC article made misleading statements that could be construed as unfair to one community.
"This could cause serious disharmony amongst British communities as we saw during the Leicester unrest in 2022, which culminated in Hindus and Hindu Temples (Mandirs) being attacked," the written communication added.
One of the points that the rebuttal by Insight UK raises is that the article by BBC fails to mention that it is a core belief of all Hindus that Rama was God and was born in Ayodhya.
The article written by Yogita Limaye said, "Monday's ceremony is being seen as the informal start of his campaign for re-election this year, wooing India's Hindu majority. Across the country, millions of Hindus are gearing up to celebrate the day like a big festival, while employees of Mr Modi's federal government have been given a half day."
"Therefore, Ayodhya is a sacred place for Hindus, just like Muslims have Mecca and Christians have various holy sites. The article does not state that the Ram Temple is as important to Hindus as the Al-Aqsa Mosque is to Muslims," Insight UK added.
