Senior Advocate Made False Statements In At Least 15 Cases Says SC

The Court is expected to issue guidelines to curb lapses.

The Supreme Court on Monday took note of the allegations against Senior Advocate Rishi Malhotra, stating that he appears to have made false statements in atleast 15 different cases.

In an ongoing case before the Apex Court, an Advocate on Record reportedly alleged a lapse on the part of the Senior lawyer for an affidavit filed in a remission case. This led to a blame game beetween the Senior Advocate and the AoR during the proceedings before the Court. The Court is expected to issue guidelines to curb such lapses and also apointed former Orissa High Court Chief Justice and Senior Advocate, Dr S. Muralidhar as Amicus Curiae in the case.
