A New Twist in Fortnite’s Legal Battle Royale With Apple
A new update on the Apple vs. Fortnite battle royale
In its latest filing, Epic Games has applied for a preliminary injunction against Apple arguing that the game developer company is “likely to suffer irreparable harm” if the app isn't allowed back in the App Store. It also called Apple a “monopolist."
Epic Games stated in its submission that 116 million gamers play Fortnite on the iPhone maker’s iOS platform. The gaming developer company emphasized that iOS is the biggest platform for its popular game. It has the largest player base in comparison with Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, PC or Android.
The motion is filed in a US District Court in Northern District of California. The motion brief filed by the leading game developer company further says, "all Epic seeks is for the Court to stop Apple from retaliating against Epic for daring to challenge Apple's misconduct."

The next hearing is scheduled for September 28. On August 24, a judge had earlier ruled that Fortnite would remain banned from the iOS App Store, but Apple must not block Epic's development platform Unreal Engine because many developers use it to create games on Apple devices.
The ruling meant that iOS gamers who had Fortnite downloaded on their phones were not able to access the game's latest updates that were released after the ruling in August.
