Trust Legal Acts On Behalf Of Local Residents In Saving A Park From Illegal Cutting Of Trees

The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi responded to an application filed by Trust Legal acting on behalf of Residents of A3 Block Janakpuri regarding the unlawful felling of trees at A3 Block Heaven Road Park in Janakpuri. It was found that 75 trees and saplings had been illegally uprooted by some local residents. 

Residents of A3 Block Janakpuri were represented by Trust Legal through Ms. Petal Chandhok, Partner, Ms. Rupali Gupta, Associate Partner, and Ms. Yashita Rastogi, Associate in the matter. Extensive arguments were advanced by Ms. Petal Chandhok and Ms. Rupali Gupta in the matter on behalf of the residents.

The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in the special bench of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jasmeet Singh, directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to ensure the planting of new trees and tasked the Deputy Conservator of Forests with restoring the park to its original state.

Additionally, the Hon’ble Court instructed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Janakpuri to prevent further tree damage and provide security to facilitate tree planting efforts. The SHO was also mandated to ensure that the park remains open to the public and not used for private functions such as wedding or commercial activities.

The Hon’ble Court further directed the Deputy Conservator of Forests, SHO Janakpuri, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to submit status reports alongside implementing the interim directions provided by the Hon’ble Court.
