"Travelling from Noida to Delhi takes 2 hours instead of 20 minutes", SC Issues Notice Over Resident's Plea

Responding to a writ petition filed by a Noida woman over allegedly unreasonable travel time, the Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to Central Government and Delhi Police Commissioner.

In her writ petition, the woman has claimed that travelling to Delhi from Noida because of the nature of her marketing job is taking 2 hours instead of 20 minutes. Being a single mother with medical issues, the unreasonable travelling time has become a nightmare for her, she told the Court. She also pointed out that various directions have been passed by the Court to keep the roads clear but it did not happen.

Responding to her claims, The three-Judge Bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Monicca Agarwaal and R. Subhash Reddy said,

“We did put to her if it is so, it is an administrative failure as the judicial view has already been propounded by us.”

The matter is listed for hearing on 09.04.2021.
