Technology Enabled Digital Courts Launched For Traffic Cases in Delhi

Two digital courts have been recently launched for the East and North East districts in the Karkardooma courts complex in Delhi  that shall be specially available for the litigants. They shall be able to challenge the traffic challans in the virtual traffic courts. The court proceedings will be virtual and there shall be recording of evidence and hearing of the arguments. The virtual launch event was held in the presence of  head of the High Court's Information Technology Committee, Justice Rajiv Shakdher.  and the Chief Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud inaugurated the projects and spoke about the developments undertaken by the Courts in embracing Information Technologies.

Video-conferencing shall enable the violators or those intending to challenge the challans to appear online and if they are found guilty and convicted, the can pay the fine online. There has been further discussions pertaining to one digital traffic courts for each district in Delhi in the coming days.

The e-prison platform is specially designed and shall have a "bail sharing module", besides the "Digital Courts for Contested Traffic Challan" that has been inaugurated. This will allow unhindered connectivity between the Court, prisons and Legal Services Authority of Delhi. The interests of the Prisoners have been kept in mind while developing these advanced prison and court management systems, so that there is no delay in released of prisoner after the attain bail,
