Supreme Court Bar Assocaition Requests Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to Extend COVID-19 Vaccination Scheme to Judges, Lawyers And Judicial Staff

Supreme Court Bar Association seeks coverage of judges, lawyers and Judicial Staff under the new COVID 19 vaccination program. It has requested Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to extend the vaccination drive to the members of the legal fraternity as it can enable the courts to resume its operations soon.

SCBA's letter calls the judicial system a sacrosanct limb of the constitution. It also stated that lawyers have been at the forefront of rendering services to the people, therefore the legal fraternity deserves consideration to be kept under the category of frontline workers for the application of the vaccination program.

SCBA's letter also highlights that only urgent matters are being taken up through video conferencing after the outbreak of coronavirus due to the limited functioning of the courts. Internet connectivity issues have further delayed the justice dispensation system aggravating the difficulties being faced by lawyers, litigants and other stakeholders.
