President Appoints Justice AM Khanwilkar As Chairperson Of Lokpal

The President of India has appointed Justice AM Khanwilkar as Chairperson of Lokpal, the national anti-corruption watchdog body.

The press communique released by the President of India has names of the following officials appointed to the Lokpal:-

1.   Shri Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar

Judicial Members

2.   Shri Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy

3.   Shri Justice Sanjay Yadav

4.   Shri Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi

Members other than Judicial Members

5.   Shri Sushil Chandra

6.   Shri Pankaj Kumar

7.   Shri Ajay Tirkey

The press communique also stated that the above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.

Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India. He has also served as the chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and Himachal Pradesh High Court and as a judge of the Bombay High Court. He retired from the Supreme Court on 29 July 2022 after being on the court for 6 years.

Lingappa Narayana Swamy (born 1 July 1959) is an Indian judge and the former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. He is former Judge of Karnataka High Court.

Justice Sanjay Yadav is an Indian Judge. He is former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi is currently serving as the Chairperson of 22nd Law Commission of India. He was Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court from 11 October 2021 to 2 July 2022.
