One Rakesh through Advocates Pawan Kumar and AK Dubey has filled public interest litigation before the Delhi High Court for removal of the Amitabh Bachchan caller tune on COVID-19 awareness.
Amitabh Bachchan is not suitable for such services as he charges money for the same.
"It is ..most respectfully prayed that kindly be pleased to remove the caller tune of Mr Amitabh Bachchan of corona from the mobile in the interest of justice.” - Petitioner
According to petitioner's argument, actor Amitabh Bachchan is not suitable for this kind of services because he charges money for the same.
It has been alleged that the government of India has been paying fees to Mr Amitabh Bachchan for chanting the preventive measures on caller ringtone. The petitioner highlighted the fact that there are some corona warriors who have been doing great service to the nation and helping the poor and needy people. Some people have volunteered to help those struggling in any way due to the hardships caused by the COVID outbreak.
Amitabh Bachchan does not serve the country as a social worker
The plea argued that Amitabh Bachchan does not serve the country as a “social worker. His history was also questioned as he has been embroiled in controversies on the personal and professional front.. The PIL also reminded the Court that Mr Bachchan had tested positive for COVID in July last year.
The hearing in this matter is scheduled for January 18.
