Khaitan & Co Advises Gebr. Eickhoff Maschinenfabrik u. Eisengießerei GmbH, Eickhoff Wind Technology GmbH

Khaitan & Co acted as Indian counsel and advised Gebr. Eickhoff Maschinenfabrik u. Eisengießerei GmbH and Eickhoff Wind Technology GmbH in relation to the sale of 100% shareholding of Eickhoff Wind Asia Private Limited (EWA), to Flender Drives Private Limited for an undisclosed value.  

Eickhoff, founded in 1864, is a leading technology supplier of the global energy and commodity sector manufacturing high-performance machines and gearboxes. In the wind industry Eickhoff today focuses on leveraging its gearbox expertise to serve its customers in the growing service business. Established on 30 September 2020 in Chennai, India, EWA manufactures and assembles wind energy gearboxes of capacity up to 6 MW.

The team was led by Kalpana Unadkat (Senior Partner with assistance from Amiya Kumar Pati (Principal Associate) and Sushmita Som (Associate).

The role of the firm included (a) providing structuring related advisory services to Eickhoff, (b) reviewing, negotiating and finalising the transaction documents, and (c) providing advisory services to Eickhoff in relation to Indian exchange control regulations and Indian law aspects.
