Kerala HC Agrees to Hear Father Thomas Kottoor’s Appeal Challenging his Conviction in Sister Abhaya Murder

On Tuesday, a Division Bench of Justices K Vinod Chandran and MR Anitha agreed to hear Father Thomas Kottoor's appeal challenging trial court's judgement holding him guilty of murdering sister Abhaya. In his petition, Father Kottor has claimed that the judgement of the trail court is marred by irregularities.

The judgement passed by the trial court is based on “unconnected story circumstances culled out from unreliable solitary witnesses”: Father Kottoor

On December 23, 2020, Father Kottoor and Sister Sephy were convicted for the murder of Sister Abhaya, a19 year-old nun by a CBI Judge, Thiruvananthapuram. After that, both of them were sentenced to imprisonment for life and were also directed to pay a fine of Rs. 5 Lakh each

Along with a fine amount of Rs. 5 Lakh imposed on both of them, Father Kottoor was also ordered to pay of Rs. 1 Lakh for house-trespass.
