The Karnataka High Court today granted bail to Kannada actress Sanjjanaa Galrani. She was arrested on the basis of suo moto case registered by Cottonpet police station alleging that she has been involved in consuming and supplying banned drugs at parties and events.
The actress was charged under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), and the Indian Penal Code wherein it was alleged that she along with her team use to procure narcotic substances from different parts of India as well as world to sell those in hotels, pubes and farmhouse parties.
Galrani along with Ragini Dwivedi and three others applied for bail last month but the High Court denied the same and held that the custodial interrogation of the accused persons is imperative in order to discover evidence in the present investigation.
A fresh application was filed seeking bail on the basis of the medical condition has been accepted by Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar. The Kannada actress has been granted bail on the following conditions.
Subject to execution of personal bond of Rs. 3,00,000 with two sureties.
She is directed to mark her attendance twice every month
She is directed to co-operate with the investigation and refrain from tampering with evidence
Further, the order issued by the court needs to be communicated to the Jail authorities today and the actress is expected to be released by tomorrow.
