IPL Cricketer Abhishek Sharma Represented By Trust Legal In An Ongoing Police Investigation In Surat

In a recent update on the Tanya Singh alleged suicide case, Surat police interrogated Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma for his connections with the deceased model. The questioning, focusing on their relationship and shared photographs, went on for five to six hours. Revelations from Singh's phone have prompted further investigations into their past interactions. Sharma, known for his cricketing prowess, met Singh only a couple of times in the last 2 years and were friends.

As reported by Dainik Bhaskar, 23-year-old Abhishek reached Vesu Police Station on Tuesday afternoon to record his statement. After questioning he said, 'The police had called me, and I have recorded my statement.'

Another development that has come to fore, according to various media reports, says there had been no communication between Tanya Singh and IPL cricketer Abhishek Sharma for the past few months. This information was disclosed to media outlet Dainik Bhaskar by Singh's close friend from London, who wished to remain anonymous. Additionally, it was mentioned that Singh faced pressure to get married from her family owing to which she was probably disturbed. In a report by Indian Express, Inspector DU Barad, says if needed, the IPL player will be called again to join the probe. It is said, as many as 40 people have been questioned regarding the model’s suicide. The police have not been able to establish the cause of the model’s suicide.

Sharma’s lawyer Petal Chandhok, Partner of Trust Legal, says “Abhishek is a sincere and responsible young person. He had been called by the investigation authorities and we visited the Police Station on priority to assist the authorities. As stated by Abhishek, he has given his statement and will provide any further assistance too, if required.” 

For the unversed, Surat model and fashion designer Tanya Singh allegedly ended her life by suicide in her house on the night of 19 February. 28-year-old Tanya Singh was a fashion designer and a model by profession. 

Abhishek Sharma serves as an all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad, with a track record in first-class and T20 cricket. In 24 first-class games, he's scored 1071 runs, holding an average of 30.60, which includes a single century and five half-centuries. His T20 career spans 88 matches, during which he has accumulated 2187 runs at a strike rate of 145, including three centuries and 13 half-centuries. Sharma also plays for Punjab in domestic cricket, where he notably hit five sixes in one over in a Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu.
