The Delhi High Court recently quashed an FIR for offences pertaining to fraud, forgery and fabrication of documents.
The FIR against the Petitioner namely Surinder Singh Taneja was under Sections Sections 420/467/406/471 of the IPC. The petitioner filed a quashing petition under section 482 CRPC.
The counsel for the petitioner submitted before the Court that the instant FIR had been registered due to misunderstanding. Furthermore, the complainant, who appeared through video conferencing, submitted that he was now left with no claim or grievance against the petitioner.
Bench comprising Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri observed that the Petitioner had shown remorse for his conduct and undertook not to repeat the same in future and that both the parties had settled their disputes. Considering the facts, the court observed that no useful purpose would be served in continuance of the criminal proceedings in regards to which the same were quashed.
The court quashed the FIR without levying any cost on the Petitioner/Accused.
