Yes Bank Founder and former MD Rana Kapoor recently obtained an injunction order from a Delhi Court in respect of a book which contained alleged defamatory material against him.
The Court restrained the sale and circulation of the book until the defamation suit filed by Kapoor came to a conclusion.
The book in question is 'Yes Man: The Untold Story of Rana Kapoor' which was released in the year 2020. Additionally, the Court also ordered for the take down of certain online news articles.
The Court noted that, "The reputation of the plaintiff once defamed in the eyes of reader of the book, it cannot be reversed back, if the plaintiff finally succeeds in the present case whereas the defendant will have only monetary loss only which is not greater than the reputation of the plaintiff."
The order came to be passed on July 10 by Naresh Kumar Laka, District Judge at Tis Hazari Courts. The Court was prima facie convinced that the book would harm the reputation of Kapoor.
