Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi today extended Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's remand by four days in the excise policy case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja heard Arvind Kejriwal who argued personally and said that the Enforcement Directorate case was a political conspiracy against him and Aam Aadmi Party.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju rebutted arguments advanced by the Delhi Chief Minister and asked for seven days remand.
The Delhi High Court yesterday refused to grant interim relief to Arvind Kejriwal in his plea against arrest and remand. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared on behalf of Delhi Chief Minister and stated to the Court that the arrest of Kejriwal was against the democracy and disturbed the level playing field in the impending General Elections 2024.
Bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma did not agree to allow interim relief and said that granting interim relief would amount to complete relief to Arvind Kejriwal.
On Thursday, Kejriwal personally addressed the Court and conceded that ED could keep him in remand for as long as possible and that he was ready to co-operate.
