A counsel from Kolkata had requested for an adjournment petition in Guwahati High Court before the bench of Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta  and Justice Devashis Baruah citing difficulties to which Justice Mehta mentioned that there are good lawyers in Guwahati and that there is no need to engage lawyers from Kolkata and Delhi.

The Counsel representing the respondents informed that an adjournment was being sought with the consent of the other side. Justice Mehta mentioned that the particular reason cited cannot be a ground for adjournment. He said, " You don't threaten us with the presence of counsel from Calcutta or Delhi. We are not bothered ..."
