Bombay High Court to Take a Call on Hybrid Bearings This Week

Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases, the Bombay High Court Chief Justice was requested by the Bombay Bar Association for the court proceedings to be conducted in a Hybrid format. Within this week it will be decided if the hybrid system of hearings will be used, indicated today by the Bombay High Court.

Senior Advocate Vikram Nankani informed the Court that Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi wanted to address the court, during the mentioning of the plea filed by Param Bir Singh, former Commissioner of Police. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi could only address the court if a hybrid hearing is available stated Senior Advocate Vikram Nankani.

The Bench was led by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni.

Chief Justice Dipankar Datta clarified that although he had got recommendations for the adoption of the hybrid System of hearings, no decision was taken before the Principal Bench of the High Court yet on the matter of mode of hearing.
