The Bombay High Court, on March 13, declined the plea to restrain the Government to notify fact checking unit under the IT Rules Amendment 2023.
After the Division Bench comprising Justice GS Patel and Justice Neela Gokhale reached a split verdict, the plea of interim relief to restrain the Government to notify a fact checking unit also could not be decided.
Justice AS Chandurkar was appointed as the third judge to decide the matter and conclude it. The judge opined that the application for interim relief could not be accepted and dismissed those applications.
He is yet to decide upon the constitutionality of the provisions of the IT Rules Amendment 2023 which is in a limbo since the split verdict by the Division Bench.
