Mr Subramanian Swamy urges aviation ministry to disqualify Tata sons
Mr Subramanian Swamy has written to civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri, urging the government to disqualify Tata Sons from the Air India disinvestment process till a final decision on his plea against Tata Sons & Air Asia India is taken by the court.
Mr Swamy had filed a writ petition in Delhi HC questioning the grant of license
In his letter to the civil aviation minister, Mr Swamy says that he had filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court to challenge the license grant to Air Asia India which had jointly collaborated with the Tata Sons for this particular venture. In his letter dated December 14, 2020, Mr Swamy highlights the fact that CBI had taken cognizance of his complaints and registered an FIR in this matter on April 28, 2021.The Rajya Sabha MP also refers to a money laundering case lodged against a few Air Asia officials for obtaining FIPB approval from the Finance Ministry.
The case is witnessing delays due to COVID pandemic
It is pertinent to note that Delhi HC had asked for a status report in this case through its order dated 11.07.2019. However, the case has witnessed long delay owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Swamy alleges that there are multiple reports floating in the media alleging that Tata Group is in talks with Singapore Airlines to buy Air India. He has requested the aviation minister to disqualify Tata Sons and other airline companies from the bidding process till his PIL is pending adjudication.
Mr Swamy had first Tweeted the details of the letter on December 16 and the hearing in this case is expected to resume in January 2021.
