Dr. Lalit Bhasin, Managing Partner of Bhasin & Co., speaking at the APCAM (Asia Pacific Centre for Arbitration and Mediation) International ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) Summit said, "The goals which we have set for the growth of ADR still remain to be achieved. Litigation has totally failed in India. We have nearly 5 crore cases pending in the country. It was considered as if Arbitration could be an alternative but now we are looking for alternatives to Arbitration."
Bhasin emphasised that institutions like APCAM should continue to impart awareness about ADR so that gradual change in the postive way takes place in the years to come.
"I have seen the evolution of ADR in my 61 years of law practice. It feels sad to see that ADR is not reaching anywhere. Institutions like APCAM can help in generating awareness. It is a brilliant initiative to bring this event to India. I am a firm believer that a bad settlement is better than a successful litigation," said Bhasin.
Recently, Dr. Bhasin was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the House of Lords in United Kingdom.
