News agency ANI (Asia News International) recently filed a copyright infringement suit against PTI (Press Trust of India). The suit was filed for alleged plagiarism of video content.
The plea was heard by a Bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna and the Court asked PTI to file its reply to the plea filed by ANI. The case has been listed for August 9, 2024.
ANI has sought permanent injunction and damages of Rs. 2 crores from ANI for publishing videos of an incident on Spice Jet aeroplane. Senior Advocate Rajshekhar Rao represented PTI and assured the Court that the videos will be removed within twenty four hours.
Senior Advocate Chander Lall appeared for ANI and argued that PTI must take down the videos and apologise. Lall refused suggestion of mediation given by the Court.
