In a recent development, the President of India has engaged Siddhartha Shankar Ray among others as Central Government Standing Counsels (CGSC) to represent before the Delhi High Court.
The engagements, effective immediately, have been made for a tenure of three years, commencing from the date of the Order F. No. J-11017/26/2023-Judicial (13.03.2024), issued by the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.
Siddhartha has over 20 years of experience in litigation, corporate advisory and alternative dispute resolution practice. He specialises in civil litigation, constitutional laws, consumer laws and commercial laws.
Siddhartha regularly represents clients, such as, corporations, financial Institutions, public sector undertakings and State Governments before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and has various reported judgments to his name.
Formerly, Siddhartha has been the Assistant Advocate General for the State of Punjab in the Supreme Court of India and a Counsel for the Government of Delhi in the High Court of Delhi. He has also been appointed as an arbitrator by the High Court of Delhi in numerous ad hoc and institutional arbitrations.
