Union Cabinet Signs MoU With Maldives Government On Judicial Cooperation

On July 20, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Union Cabinet of India and the Judicial Service Commission of Maldives.

This comes close on the heels of the recent speech by Chief Justice NV Ramana wherein he had flagged the issue of judicial pendency that is plaguing the country.

The is the eighth such MoU signed between India and other countries which aims to enhance judicial cooperation. 

The effect of the MoU would be a focus on digitisation. It was stated that technology would be beneficial to both the judiciaries.

This will also enable exchange of knowledge and technology in judicial and other legal areas between the two countries.
