Supreme Court Seeks Centre's Response On The Issue Of Forceful Religious Conversions

Responding to a plea moved by BJP spokesperson Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay on forced religious conversions, the Supreme Court on Monday said that forceful religious conversions threaten the freedom and security of the country.

The top court directed the central government to file a counter affidavit in the matter as per reports. 

The plea filed by Upadhyay has claimed that the menace of religious conversions is prevalent in every nook and corner of the country. In his plea before the Supreme Court Upadhyay seeks a law commission report on the issue of forceful religious conversions and a nationwide law to prohibit such practice against the fundamental rights of the citizens.

The matter will come up for hearing on  November 28, 2022.
