Justice Amit Sharma has been inducted as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court. He was administered oath on Monday by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. The Supreme Court Collegium recommended him to be elevated as a judge in the high court in late 2021.
The Supreme Court collegium had recommended his name to be made a permanent judge in earlier as there was a vacancy for the same. The collegium said-
“Having regard to all the relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that Shri Justice Amit Sharma, Additional Judge, is suitable for being appointed as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Delhi,”
He was notified to be appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi high court in May 2022 before which he used to be a practicing lawyer and he took oath as the same in June, 2022. The same was announced by Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju through his twitter handle.
