Delhi HC Gives Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal 2 More Weeks To Fulfill Promise Made To Tenants

Amid the lockdown restrictions and the consequent loss of livelihood for people, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had come forward to address the plight of the poor and promised that the government will pay house rent if a financially challenged tenant is unable to do so.

Seems like the consciously made promise has put Kejriwal in a spot.  As per an application moved in the Delhi High Court, inaction over the assurance given to the poor tenants has adversely affected the rights of the petitioner.

The Delhi High Court also questioned Kejriwal on failure to act on the Court order that directed the AAP government to take a decision on the promise made to the tenants. Although the Delhi High Court had given 6 weeks to do so, the Counsel for the AAP Government has sought 2 more weeks.

Delhi HC has given 2 more weeks to Kejriwal and the matter would be heard next on September 27.
