Blind And Cerebral Palsy Candidates Not Given Reservation In WB Judicial Services Exam

The Public Services Commission, West Bengal has advertised that the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination, 2022 will be in accordance with the existing rules for the recruitment of the posts in West Bengal Judicial Services. But the Blind and Cerebral Palsy candidates have been exempted from reservations in the exams.

The advertisement said-

“Persons Suffering from Blindness or Cerebral palsy have been exempted from the purview of reservation as contemplated under Section 32 of Persons with Disabilities (Equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.”

This notification for the exam is related to the notification of the year 2007 that too exempted blind and cerebral palsy candidates from judicial services. The 2007 notification had said that judicial mind is required to be applied by the judicial officers before any cases are disposed by them and also stated that any omission on part of the judicial officers on account of disability with blindness and cerebral palsy may hinder dispensation of justice to the litigant parties.
