Arjun Ram Meghwal Becomes Union Law Minister

Arjun Ram Meghwal has taken over the position of Kiren Rijiju as the Union Minister for Law and Justice. As per an official announcement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Meghwal has been given the responsibility as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice, along with his existing roles, replacing Kiren Rijiju.

In July 2021, Rijiju was appointed as the Law Minister, succeeding Ravi Shankar Prasad. During his tenure as the law minister, Rijiju gained attention for his repeated criticisms of the collegium system used for judicial appointments. Kiren Rijiju has been made incharge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Currently, Meghwal holds the position of Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs & Culture.
