PIL in Madhya Pradesh HC Over Waste Generated by Banquet Halls Across Indore

A Public Interest Litigation on the issue of spreading dirt and noise pollution through wedding banquet halls across the city of Indore has been filed in the Indore bench of High Court of Madhya Pradesh.

The PIL has been filed by petitioner, Jitendra Badjatya, through the Advocate K.K. Gupta.

The PIL claimed that the banquet halls of the city were not following the guidelines for disposal of garbage. Most banquet halls leave food waste in drains rather than disposing it, leading to blockage of drains.

The petition said that as per the rules, parking at banquet halls should be arranged within the garden, but it is not happening. Visitors park their vehicles on the road and service road, leading to traffic jams.

The petition said that parking at banquet halls should be arranged inside the garden as per the regulations. But it not being followed by the visitors and they park the vehicles by the road and on the service road which is the root cause of long traffic jams in the area.

In addition, it was stated in the PIL that the lives of people living next to the banquet halls or in the nearby area becomes difficult on the day of the event because of the noisy music at later hours of the night.

The Petitioner, Jitendra Badjatya has repeatedly complained about the matter to the authorities, but no action was taken by them. In addition, there are regular situations of conflict with the owner of the marriage gardens, the PIL says.
